From all her waking thoughts he is debarred
For sternly at the portals of her mind
That mighty Sentinel the Will, stands guard
That no maurauding memories may find
Their entrance to her heart.
But when she sleeps
Then like some lawless bandit of the night
Through the unguarded door of dreams he creeps
And boldly seizes on each lost delight.
